15.07.2022
Minister of Climate and Environment Anna Moskwa had a discussion with the EU Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson. The meeting held on 14 July 2022 focused on the energy security issues.
Minister Moskwa discussed with Commissioner Simson on, among others, the planned Communication of the European Commission on the potential reduction of gas demand in the Member States. According to the Polish party, any recommendations in this area cannot be introduced by the EU legislation. While the coordination of the national efforts and plans is of key importance, such instrument should remain voluntary. Minister Moskwa emphasized that solidarity in the area of security of supplies of energy resources to the EU is of pivotal importance to Poland.
We oppose to imposing the obligatory reduction targets. The solidarity mechanism cannot lead to weakened energy security of any Member State
– stated Minister Anna Moskwa.
The Head of the Ministry of Climate and Environment and the EU Commissioner brought up also the Polish plans related to further development of the onshore wind energy in Poland.
Wind energy has already become an important component of the Polish energy mix. Full use of its onshore and offshore capacity will enable transformation of the energy system towards low-carbon economy and strengthen the energy security
– emphasized Minister Anna Moskwa.
The expression of intensive works by Poland in the area of onshore wind energy development is the adoption by the Council of Ministers of the draft amendment of the Act on investments in wind farms on 5 July this year (so called 10h Act).
Minister Anna Moskwa stated that the works in this area at the parliamentary level will be contained in the upcoming days.
