All are smiling and posing for the photo.

Highlights

  • The total value of the investments for which contracts have been signed today exceeds PLN 368 million, of which over PLN 207 million comes from funding under the European Funds for Infrastructure, Climate and Environment 2021–2027 (FEnIKS) programme.
  • The total value of projects for which contracts have been signed to date under the FEnIKS water and waste e measure amounts to almost PLN 5 billion. This comprises 57 contracts signed by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFEP&WM) for PLN 2.6 billion in European funding.
  • Altogether, the projects will result in nearly 500 km of infrastructure, the connection of 300,000 residents to collective sewerage systems, and the modernisation and construction of a total of 30 sewage treatment plants.

Projects being carried out in Raszyn, Ozorków, Łomianki, Sierpc, Polanka Wielka, Jabłonna, Siechnice and Lublin will improve residents’ access to sanitary sewerage and enhance the quality and safety of municipal services. These investments, co-financed by European Funds, increase the level of sewerage coverage in the agglomeration, improve water quality and ensure more efficient and safer wastewater treatment. The Minister of Climate and Environment, Paulina Hennig-Kloska, attended the ceremony at the NFEP&WM where the eight municipalities signed the agreements.

Under European funding schemes, 57 contracts with a total value of PLN 5 billion have been signed for investments in sanitation infrastructure. These include the expansion of sewerage networks and the modernisation of water and sewerage facilities. Thanks to these projects, 500 km of new and modernised infrastructure will be built in Poland. This will enable around 300,000 additional residents to be connected. We will also modernise 30 sewage treatment plants

– said Minister Paulina Hennig-Kloska during the signing of agreements for funding projects in the water and sewage sector.

One of the National Fund’s key priorities remains the modernisation of water and sewage systems, particularly where the infrastructure needs to be brought into line with EU requirements and the growing needs of local communities. Together with local authorities, we are laying the foundations for a safe water and wastewater management system, improving the state of the environment and addressing climate challenges. These are investments that will pay dividends for decades to come. This cooperation strengthens the resilience of infrastructure to the effects of climate change and improves public health across the country. It also clearly demonstrates how important EU funding is for the development of local communities

– emphasised Dorota Zawadzka-Stępniak, President of the Management Board of the NFEP&WM.

Access to a properly functioning sewerage system and clean water is not a luxury, but a standard that residents expect as a matter of course. That is why we are consistently investing in the development of this infrastructure. These are tangible results – real, noticeable and long-lasting. Thanks to European Funds, local authorities can carry out projects that directly improve the quality of life – sewage disposal, water quality and sanitation

– stressed Robert Gajda, Deputy President of the Management Board of the NFEP&WM.

These investments will improve quality of life and the state of the environment

Investments carried out under the FEnIKS water and wastewater management measure increase the level of sewerage coverage in urban areas, improve water quality and ensure more efficient and safer wastewater treatment. Projects in eight municipalities will help to meet the requirements of the EU Wastewater Directive and increase the resilience of local infrastructure to the effects of climate change.

The budget for the FEnIKS water and wastewater management measure amounts to approximately PLN 4 billion. To date, the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFEP&WM) has signed 57 contracts worth around PLN 2.6 billion, and further projects have been approved for funding.

Thanks to these investments, residents will gain access to modern and safe infrastructure, whilst local authorities will be able to protect the environment more effectively and meet European standards. These are concrete examples of how European Funds translate into everyday life, better water quality, efficient sewerage systems and improved public health.
