MPK Rzeszów - Expanding the existing bus wash building in accordance with the principles of the circular economy

The Minister of Climate and Environment, supported by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFEP&WM), as the Operator of the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Programme, informs of the conclusion of the agreement on co-financing Expanding the existing bus wash building in accordance with the principles of the circular economy project.

The project is conducted by Miejskie Przedsiębiorstwo Komunikacyjne Rzeszów Sp. z o.o (Municipal Transport Company Rzeszów Ltd.).

About the project

The project obtained co-financing in the call for proposals Strengthened implementation of Circular Economy under the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Programme, in the area of climate change mitigation and adaptation.

The project is co-financed in 85% by the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Program of the European Economic Area Financial Mechanism (of which 85% comes from the EEA Financial Mechanism and 15% from the national budget).

The total cost of the project is EUR 0.5 M (over PLN 2.7 M), of which the maximum amount of co-financing is almost EUR 400 000 (almost PLN 2 M).

The aim of the project is to reconstruct of the existing water and sewage system of the bus wash plant and its extension using a closed water system, as well as the construction of a retention reservoir and a rainwater storage tank from the roofs. The activities planned in the project will allow the reuse of the company's resources, especially water and energy, which are in line with the principles of the circular economy.

The project will also involve information and education activities. This will promote the knowledge of the Circular Economy among industry representatives, company employees and the local community, which may have a positive impact on increasing environmental awareness and will encourage other entities to undertake similar activities.

Partnership

The project is conducted with the Norwegian partner International Development Norway.

Implementation period

The agreement for the project's co-financing was signed on 10th May 2022 and the planned completion date is April 2024.
