Environment Energy and Climate Change Programme MF EOG #ENERGY

The Minister of Climate and Environment, supported by the national Fund for Environmental protection and Water management (NFEP&WM), as the Operator of the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Programme, informs of the conclusion of the agreement on co-financing Increasing the production of energy from renewable sources and improving the energy efficiency of school buildings in the Strzelce Opolskie commune project.

The project is conducted by the Strzelce Opolskie commune.

About the project

The project obtain co-financing in the call for proposals Improved energy efficiency in school buildings under the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Programme in the area of Improving energy efficiency and energy security.

The project is co-financed in 70% by the Environment, Energy and Climate Change Program of the European Economic Area Financial Mechanism (of which 85% comes from the EEA Financial Mechanism and 15% from the national budget) and the NFOŚ loan program.

The total cost of the project is EUR 1,9 million, of which the maximum amount of co-financing is over EUR 1,2 million.

The main local problem identified and addressed to the project goals is high energy consumption and emission intensity of many buildings in the municipality as well as low social awareness of the need to solve the ecological and social problems resulting from above, especially in owners of outdated buildings / premises ("attachment to silesian tradition") and low readiness to apply for external funds for thermal modernization and renewable energy.

The project is ment to motivate the local community as the positive example of the use of external funds (in this case Norway and EEA funds) to more effective implementation of this type of modernisations and become beneficiaries of their effects.

As a result the environmental footprint of school buildings will significantly improve, as well as operational indicators and local awareness of the benefits resulted from thermomodernization and the use of renewable energy will indrease.

Planned results: reduction of app. 95% of annual CO2 emissions from those buildings, final en. savings by app. 60% and primary en. by approx. 90%, increase in energy production from RES by 93%.

Partnership

The donor's partner in the project is the Polish Saturday School of Maria Skłodowskiej-Curie in Moss, Norway. The partnership provides for close cooperation, especially in the field of transferring experience from the didactic process in the field of renewable energy and energy efficiency from Norway to Poland.

Implementation period

The agreement for the project's co-financing was signed on 19th January 2022 and the planned completion date is 30th April 2024.
