Leaders Summit on Climate

On 22 and 23 April 2021 the Leaders Summit on Climate, a virtual meeting organised by the administration of the U.S. President, Joe Biden, was held with the participation of state leaders and heads of governments. The two-day climate summit was attended also by the Polish President Andrzej Duda, accompanied by the Minister of Climate and Environment, Michał Kurtyka
The President of Poland took the floor during the Friday debate on economic growth and job creation issues combined with the ambitious climate policy, sharing the experience of our entire region.
During the meeting, President Andrzej Duda presented the Polish concepts and experiences of just economic transformation, creating new jobs in innovative industries related to the green economy, and raised some energy security issues.
Climate is a matter of special concern for the countries of the Three Seas Initiative, which consists of my country, Poland, and other countries of the Central Europe situated between the Baltic, the Black Sea and the Adriatic. I have recently spoken to the presidents of Slovenia – Borut Pahor, Lithuania – Gitanas Nausėda and Bulgaria – Rumen Radev, who is currently holding the presidency of this initiative. All of us in the Three Seas are convinced that we need to pursue an ambitious climate policy based on the principles of just transition, taking into account the realities of our countries and the well-being of our societies,
said Andrzej Duda, President of the Republic of Poland, during the debate.
We should coordinate our research and development efforts at international level to create a critical mass of innovative, yet affordable technologies,
added the President of the Republic of Poland.
