13.03.2019
The Minister of Environment Henryk Kowalczyk attended a meeting with Norwegian Ambassador Olav Myklebust. The aim of the meeting was, among others, to discuss the possibility of accelerating the finalisation of the signing of the agreement on the “Environment, Energy, Climate Change” Operational Programme.
Poland hopes for a quick finalisation of the “Environment, Energy, Climate Change” Operational Programme and signing the agreement on the programme by the end of 2019 at the latest, the Minister of Environment emphasised.
For the third time, the Ministry of Environment will be responsible for implementing Norwegian Funds in the environment, climate and energy sectors in Poland.
“We are interested in the implementation of a project to study the impact of waste on the natural environment in cooperation with Norwegian research institutions. This initiative is particularly important for us,” Minister Kowalczyk added.
During the meeting, the issues of cooperation in the field of promotion of the development of wooden construction in Poland were also discussed.
Ecological construction, especially wooden construction, offers many opportunities to increase the energy efficiency of buildings and reduce their maintenance costs, said the minister.
As part of the “Wooden Construction” strategic project, the Ministry of Environment is undertaking a number of activities aimed at creating a trend for ecological wooden buildings, including works in areas related to legislation.
Minister Henryk Kowalczyk also thanked the Norwegians for their active involvement in the work on the final COP24 document – the Katowice Rulebook.
