Minister Anna Moskwa at the meeting with the Minister of Energy of Lithuania

Energy security and independence in the region, cooperation in the natural gas and renewable energy sectors were the main topics of talks between the Minister of Climate and Environment Anna Moskwa and Dainius Kreivys, Minister of Energy of the Republic of Lithuania. The meeting was held on 24 February 2022 at the Ministry of Climate and Environment.

As Minister Anna Moskwa emphasized during the talks, Lithuania is an important partner for Poland in strengthening regional energy security.

Nowadays, in the face of Russian aggression against Ukraine, energy security and solidarity of the European Union Member States becomes particularly important

– she said.

The Ministers confirmed that mutual cooperation between Poland and Lithuania to guarantee energy security of our countries is essential. Poland and Lithuania are ready for possible crisis situations in the energy sector and are preparing for different scenarios. 

We are observing the situation and considering various scenarios. We understand the key role of energy in the economy and people's everyday lives

- said the Lithuanian minister.

The Minister of Climate and Environment also pointed out that together with nuclear energy, offshore wind energy is a key pillar of Poland's future energy mix.

Unlocking the full potential of offshore wind energy in the Baltic Sea will be an important contribution to the transformation of the Polish and Lithuanian energy systems. Offshore wind energy developed in the Baltic Sea has a chance to play a significant role in the pursuit of European climate neutrality and energy transformation of the individual countries in the region

– she continued.
