Minister Anna Moskwa met with the EU Commissioner for Energy

Poland was well prepared for last year's crisis in the gas market. Becoming independent from gas supplies from Russia, which Poland has repeatedly warned against, was possible owing to our determination and the support of EU funds

– emphasised the Minister of Climate and Environment.

It is worth noting that during last year's winter, many European countries introduced changes that have been present in Poland for several years, making it easier to achieve success in the context of ensuring uninterrupted energy supplies. Now that we are focusing on how the EU's energy security system should be restructured, we hope that Poland's position on energy security issues will be more noticeable

– Minister Anna Moskwa added.

Poland intends to continue supporting Ukraine in the energy sector, as pointed out during the meeting. Since the beginning of the war, Poland has supported the emergency synchronisation of the electricity systems of Ukraine and Moldova, monitored the actions taken by European transmission system operators, and measures were eventually taken to restore the Rzeszów-Khmelnytskyi line.

The meeting was also an opportunity to discuss Poland's proposed solution for appropriate requirements for capacity mechanisms in the context of work to reform the Electricity Market Design. Poland, along with 11 other Member States, raised the need to shorten and simplify procedures to introduce, approve and modify power mechanisms. France and Spain also touch on similar matters.

The power market, which will ensure the safe functioning of our country's electricity system, is of critical importance for Poland

– said Minister Anna Moskwa.
