Minister Hennig-Kloska in Strasbourg. Presentation of the priorities of the Polish Presidency in the field of environment and climate to the committee of the European Parliament

At the beginning of the year, Poland took over the Presidency of the Council of the European Union. For the next six months, our country will play the role of the leader and coordinator, chairing meetings at the Council and representing the Council of the European Union internationally. Security, including energy and climate security, will be the main pillar of the Polish Presidency's activities.

We will protect the environment and the climate during our Presidency. We will place particular emphasis on human care and the benefits of transformation. We will combat the causes and effects of climate change first and foremost by creating incentives and support to increase public support for a green transition

- Minister Hennig-Kloska said in Strasbourg.

Transformation, adaptation to climate change and the fight against disinformation

She added that Poland would support EU efforts to prepare a climate change adaptation plan for the EU. This plan will allow for effective risk management, loss reduction and resilience building at an EU-wide level.

We need to further develop the existing EU climate change adaptation framework and ensure that adaptation and climate risk management are integrated into all relevant legislation and policies

- she stressed.

The Polish Presidency will also promote the pursuit of environmental and climate protection policies with particular emphasis on human care and the benefits of transformation.
Moreover, the priorities of the Polish Presidency will include the work on tools to combat fake news and climate disinformation that questions climate change and the integration of adaptation and climate risk management into all legislation and policies, including the EU energy and climate policy.
Ahead of the hearing in Strasbourg, Minister Paulina Hennig-Kloska met with Antonio Decaro, Chairman of the ENVI Committee.
