    „For years, our government has consistently implemented the strategy of diversifying the sources and directions of gas supplies to Poland. After almost 30 years, on 13 May 2020, we adopted a resolution on the termination of the agreement with Russia on the construction of gas pipeline systems for gas transit through the territory of the Republic of Poland and supplies of Russian gas from Russia” – said the Minister of Climate and Environment, Anna Moskwa.

    As part of aid activities, the State Forests provided vehicles to foresters serving in the Ukrainian army. This fact was communicated at the briefing held on 24 May 2022 in the Tomaszów Mazowiecki Forest Inspectorate. The event was attended by the Deputy Minister of Climate and Environment, Edward Siarka, the Acting Director General of the State Forests, Józef Kubica as well as the Ukrainian foresters led by the government representatives – the President of the State Forest Resources Agency of Ukraine and the Advisor to the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources.

    „The current geopolitical situation compels the governments to make radical decisions regarding the acquisition of energy raw materials. The International Energy Agency analyses the changes taking place in the energy sector in selected countries and presents recommendations concerning the necessary measures to ensure energy security” – said Minister Anna Moskwa during the press conference with the participation of Fatih Birol, the Executive Director of the IEA. During the event, which was held on 12 May 2022 at the Ministry of Climate and Environment, the IEA report entitled „Poland 2022: Energy Policy Review” and ten-point plans to reduce the EU’s dependence on Russian gas and oil were presented.

    The National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFEPWM) will increase the budget of the “Enabling access to thermal waters in Poland” programme, from PLN 300 million to PLN 480 million. Thus, the allocation of the current second call for applications will also increase from PLN 70 to 250 million and, at the same time, the deadline for submitting applications will be extended until 30 September. This optimistic information for local governments planning making investments in geothermal energy was provided today (11 May) by the Minister of Climate and Environment Anna Moskwa – in Sieradz, where in the years 2018-2019 an exploratory borehole was drilled thanks to the funds from the NFEPWM, and currently the construction of a modern geothermal and biomass heating plant is already underway.

    „Since the beginning of the war, Poland has been supporting Ukraine in the international forum and actively working on the introduction of sanctions on Russian energy resources” – stressed the Minister of Climate and Environment, Anna Moskwa, during the Polish-Ukrainian Energy Forum. The meeting was held on 9 May 2022 in the Chancellery of the Prime Minister.

Our storage facilities are full in 76%.     During her visit to Warsaw, the EU Commissioner for Energy, Kadri Simson met with the Minister of Climate and Environment, Anna Moskwa. Together, they visited the Siekierki CHP plant in Warsaw and had an opportunity to talk about energy security of Europe in the face of the Russian aggression against Ukraine and the challenges facing Poland in relation to the transformation of the heating industry. The meeting was held on 26 April 2022.

This is the next stage of work related to implementing the provisions of the Sectoral Agreement in this area.
