On 26 October 2021, the President of the Republic of Poland appointed Anna Moskwa as the Minister of Climate and Environment.

“Climate change is the issue strongly involving the citizens of the European Union. The Conference on the Future of Europe is a perfect forum to work-out joint solutions. The course of the previous European Citizens’ Panels demonstrates that the Europeans are most willing to involve in the debates on the issues that affect their everyday living, such as climate protection” – said Vice-Minister of Climate and Environment Adam Guibourgé-Czetwertyński during the Working Group on Climate within the Conference on the Future of Europe held on 22 October 2021 in Strasbourg.

Growing energy prices and energy transition are the leitmotivs of the discussions between the Minister of Climate and Environment Michał Kurtyka and the representatives of the EU institutions, among others Margrethe Vestager, Commissioner for Competition and Kadri Simson, Commissioner for Energy. The meetings were held on 20-21 October 2021.

Minister of Climate and Environment Michał Kurtyka attended the online meeting with the representatives of the World Bank held on 18 October 2021. The key items of the agenda were sharing the experiences in the area of energy transition in the countries with high share of coal in their energy mix, including the need to carry out the actions mitigating the effects of closing the mines and protecting the social groups. Minister Kurtyka highlighted the role of the youth in transition shaping.

The Polish Chamber of Electromobility Development (PCED) launches The eMobi Road to COP that is a journey through Europe to Glasgow to submit a petition for establishment of the World Electromobility Day during this year COP 26 climate summit. Inauguration of the event held on 19 October 2021 in the Ministry of Climate and Environment was attended by Minister Michał Kurtyka.

On 18 October this year, the Minister of Climate and Environment Michał Kurtyka hosted the Ambassador of Japan Aiko Miyajima. The leitmotiv of the meeting was the cooperation of both countries in development of low carbon energy innovations.

The issues related to electromobility development in Poland and Great Britain were the leitmotiv of the debate organised by the Rzeczpospolita newspaper office and attended by the representatives of the zero-emission vehicles from both countries.

Publication of the IAEA report for COP26 entitled „Nuclear Energy for a Net Zero World” is the key area of discussions between the Minister of Climate and Environment Michał Kurtyka and the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency Mariano Grossi. The meeting was held on 15 October 2021.

- We are not a passive recipient in the discussion on the EU Biodiversity Strategy. We are active on the international forum. We seek the allies who, similarly to Poland, have concerns about the proposed measures. Our developed model of forest management addresses the trend of balancing all forest functions – said Vice-Minister Edward Siarka during the scientific conference on the European Green Deal hosted by the College of Social and Media Culture and held on 15 October this year.

On the initiative of Michał Kurtyka, the Minister of Climate and Environment, representatives of the government administration, business community, science, and business environment units signed, on 14 October 2021 in Warsaw, a “Sectoral Agreement for the Development of the Hydrogen Economy in Poland”. The conclusion of this agreement is a continuation of the process that began on 7 July 2020 with the signing of a “Letter of Intent to establish a partnership to develop the hydrogen economy and conclude a hydrogen sectoral agreement”.
