On the region’s energy security in the Polish-Ukrainian Energy Forum

The first part of the Polish-Ukrainian Energy Forum was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Economy, Yulia Svyrydenko, the representatives of the Ukrainian government and state-owned companies. Since the beginning of the war, Poland has decided to help Ukraine without any hesitation. From the first moments, we receive war refugees. We also deliver to Ukraine all those raw materials and products which are necessary not only for the effectively defence against the Russian aggression, but also for the functioning of the Ukrainian state. Poland has become a supply hub for Ukraine. Today, during the Polish-Ukrainian Energy Forum we talked about the way to improve activities in the fuel and energy sector, strategic for the defence of the state.

– said Deputy Prime Minister Jacek Sasin at the press conference summarising the meeting.

I would like to congratulate Ukraine on its professional management of energy security and fuel supplies during the war. Poland has been participating in this process from the very beginning. Currently, Ukraine is fully integrated into the European energy system. During the war, it made this complete transition from the Russian system. This commits us to even greater European energy solidarity.

– said Minister Anna Moskwa.

Yulia Svyrydenko, Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine, who was present in the Polish-Ukrainian Energy Forum, thanked for the Polish assistance provided since the beginning of the war.

We are grateful for your support. We are fighting not only for ourselves, but for a free Europe. Today’s event allowed us to discuss, in the group of experts, the urgent energy needs and the fuel crisis in Ukraine. I believe that together we will be able to solve these problems

– she added.

Since the first days of the war, Poland has been delivering fuel to Ukraine. Today’s meeting was devoted to the need to increase these shipments. It also allowed us to plan the chains of these supplies. I would like to warmly thank the Deputy Prime Minister for her participation in this very technical meeting

– said Minister Moskwa, addressing the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine, Yulia Svyrydenko.

According to Anna Moskwa, the Minister of Climate and Environment, currently the key objective, and, at the same time, a significant challenge, is to diversify the sources and destinations of gas supplies by expanding the import capacity and interconnections with the neighbouring countries, thus reducing the dependence on natural gas supplies from the east.

The Head of the Ministry of Climate and Environment, Anna Moskwa also stressed that Poland welcomes the announcement of another package of the European Union sanctions, mainly concerning the introduction of an embargo on the import of Russian oil.
