On March 5, 2026, an agreement was signed in Poznań to establish the Green Transformation Cluster, which will be a platform for cooperation for the development of renewable energy sources, storage and new technologies. The event was attended by Paulina Hennig-Kloska, Minister for Climate and the Environment. The minister emphasised the importance of a partnership-based approach to the roll-out of green energy.

Highlights

  • The Green Technologies Cluster will focus, amongst other things, on the energy transition, renewable energy sources, energy storage and the circular economy.
  • Access to affordable electricity, thanks to the growing role of renewable energy sources, gives the economy a competitive edge. Pressure regarding environmental standards in global markets means that investors are increasingly making the location of their investments contingent on the availability of green energy.
  • Under the KPO, the Renewable Energy Installations by Energy Communities programme has so far financed the implementation of approximately 180 pre-investment support initiatives and 19 demonstration investment projects - the total value of support under this programme is over PLN 1 billion.

The energy transition is not an end in itself – it is intended to bring us a better quality of life, a healthier environment and a more competitive economy. Only by working together – involving the regions, the academic community, the business sector and local communities – can we build a secure, resilient and modern energy system for Poland. By signing this agreement today, we are taking a step towards an energy sector that is closer to the people: cheaper, cleaner and safer. This marks the practical start of a major change

– said Paulina Hennig-Kloska, Minister of Climate and Environment.

The Green Transformation Cluster aims to support the exchange of knowledge and the development of projects that will respond to the climate, energy and economic challenges facing local governments, businesses and public institutions.

Paulina Hennig Kloska highlighted the growing role of renewable energy sources in the Polish electricity system.

The share of renewable energy sources in Poland’s installed capacity has already exceeded 50%. We need investment in new energy sources and better use of surplus energy. We are currently developing such solutions within the framework of energy clusters

– she said.

The minister emphasised that access to affordable and clean energy is crucial for maintaining the competitiveness of industry, particularly at a time of increased volatility in the commodities markets.

Under the KPO, energy communities have already implemented approximately 180 pre-investment initiatives and 19 demonstration projects with a total value of over PLN 1 billion. The Ministry of Culture and Environment supports the development of prosumers, cooperatives and energy clusters and conducts legislative activities to simplify procedures and accelerate renewable energy investments.
