Highlights

  • Deputy Minister Krzysztof Bolesta and a delegation from Australia’s hydrogen sector discussed cooperation on developing the hydrogen market, focusing on the transition from the conceptual phase to the implementation of specific investments.
  • The meeting confirmed Australia’s potential as a future hydrogen exporter and the desire to exchange experiences on technology and legal regulations.

Representatives of the government and Polish companies operating in the hydrogen sector presented the key principles of the national hydrogen policy and the direction of hydrogen infrastructure development.

During the discussion, attention was drawn to the hydrogen sector’s transition from the conceptual stage to the investment implementation phase. It was emphasised that the current moment is favourable for selecting the most mature and effective projects. At the same time, it was pointed out that the decarbonisation process is long-term in nature and depends on the life cycle of existing industrial installations.

The talks also addressed regulatory challenges within the European Union, including the complexity of regulations that may affect the pace of investment implementation. The importance of developing hydrogen infrastructure was also discussed.

Representatives from the Australian side presented the experiences and projects being developed in Australia. Among other things, they outlined initiatives related to ensuring the safety and compliance of projects, the production of hydrogen vehicles, and the implementation of large-scale export projects. They highlighted Australia’s potential as a future supplier of hydrogen and its derivatives to international markets.

The meeting confirmed the strong interest of both sides to develop cooperation in the field of hydrogen and to exchange experiences regarding regulation, technology and project implementation.
