The Ministers met Barbara Pompili, the Minister of the Ecological Transition. The conversation was related to the upcoming meeting of the European Council, including the EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS), Effort Sharing Regulation (ESR) reforms in the context of fit for 55, as well as the matters related to border carbon tax. The Ministers also discussed the Polish-French cooperation in the area of climate and energy policy.

We currently face the great challenge posed by increasing ETS prices. This does not mean that Poland incurs higher expenditures, but also that our companies have lesser funds for green investments. We must be certain that this issue is going to be raised during the closest meeting of the European Council.

- minister Michał Kurtyka said.

The Ministers also held a meeting with Alexandre Adam, President Emmanuel Macron’s advisor for Europe. During the meeting, they have raised the issues related to the May meeting of the Council of Europe, Effort Sharing Regulation (ESR) in the context of the fit for 55 package and the conclusion of the Council, as well as the matters related to taxonomy and CBAM.
