We are investing PLN 4.5 billion from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan into the Polish Electromobility Hub

13.05.2026

Thanks to a strategic investment of PLN 4.5 billion from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP), one of Europe's most modern production facilities - the Polish Electromobility Hub - is being built in Jaworzno. At a time of disruption to oil supplies through the Strait of Hormuz and sharp rises in fuel prices, building our own technological capacity is becoming the cornerstone of security for Polish families. This is proof that Polish business is going on the offensive, building an economy resilient to global crises and based on technological sovereignty, rather than on imported raw materials.

Highlights

  • On 13 May 2026, we have finalised a PLN 4.5 billion contract under the NRRP for the construction of the Polish Electromobility Hub in Jaworzno.
  • Construction work on the new facility will begin later this year, and the first vehicles are scheduled to roll off the production line in 2029.

This is the day we have been waiting two years for, although the word ‘waiting’ is inadequate, because bringing this project to fruition, finding reliable partners and implementing it responsibly has required a great deal of work. We will invest PLN 4.5 billion in the Polish Electromobility Hub, creating one of the most modern factories in Poland. This is the foundation of Poland’s security and Europe’s resilience

– said Minister Paulina Hennig-Kloska during the signing of the agreement.

We are in a phase of dynamic growth in the number of electric vehicles. We have exceeded a quarter of a million cars, but it is good to support this process in many areas. 70% of the components for production in Jaworzno will come from the EU, including a great many directly from Poland. We are placing the expertise of Polish engineers and highly qualified workers at the heart of this project

– added Minister Paulina Hennig-Kloska.

The ‘Polish Electromobility Hub’ reflects the dynamic changes taking place in the global automotive sector, driven by the green energy transition, digitalisation and transformations in global supply chains. The initiative responds to the European Union’s ambitious climate goals, including the pursuit of climate neutrality and the gradual phase-out of combustion-engine vehicles

– said Dorota Zawadzka-Stępniak, President of the Management Board of the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFEP&WM).

The investment will bring tangible benefits to the Polish economy: the creation of jobs both within the factory itself and across the wider supplier ecosystem, further growth of local businesses and partners, as well as the transfer of advanced technologies. Domestic companies and employees will actively participate in the development of zero-emission technologies

– said Paweł Augustyn, Vice-President of the Management Board of NFEP&WM.

The planned electric car factory in Jaworzno will be highly automated and based on modern production technologies. Construction is scheduled for 2026–2030, with production set to begin in 2029. The project aims to establish a strong local supply chain. From the start of production, around 70% of the value of components will be manufactured in the EU, with a significant proportion in Poland.

The full electric vehicle production ecosystem will range from technology acquisition, through production and the development of industrial infrastructure, to brand building and the sales network. The R&D Engineering Centre will play a key role in the project, working to adapt the vehicles to European market requirements, including meeting type-approval standards and ensuring their competitiveness. Activities will also include the development and localisation of components in cooperation with suppliers, as well as the testing and optimisation of technological solutions, including systems that enhance safety and driving comfort. The Centre will also support the roll-out of vehicles into series production and the development of subsequent model generations.

The investment will be implemented in cooperation with a technology partner through a joint venture, which will facilitate the transfer of advanced technologies and the development of domestic expertise in the field of electromobility.

According to standard practice in capital investments, the acquisition of shares by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management and the release of funds remain subject to confirmation of the company’s readiness to implement the project, particularly in operational, financial and organisational terms. This approach aims to ensure the security of public capital investment and to limit investment risks.

The investment agreement on behalf of NFEP&WP was signed by Dorota Zawadzka-Stępniak, President of the Management Board, and Paweł Augustyn, Vice-President of the Management Board, and by Cyprian Gronkiewicz, President of ElectroMobility Poland S.A.
