In Gdynia, Deputy Minister Iwona Michałek and the District Labour Offices from the Pomeranian Voivodeship discussed the draft Act on supporting employment and the Act on employment of foreigners. The key objective of the aforementioned acts is to adapt the services of the public employment services to the needs of job-seekers and employers and more effective management of labour migration, in line with the most recent needs.

The aims of the visit of Deputy Prime Minister Jarosław Gowin and Deputy Minister Grzegorz Piechowiak to Rome included – strengthening of the Polish-Italian cooperation in the economic area and the EU and providing the Italian partners with information on Polish sensitivity with respect to issues related to safety in Eastern EU, in the vicinity of Russia, on Belarus and Ukraine.

Establishing resilient and inclusive labour markets in EU Member States after the COVID-19 pandemic and in result of the green and digital transformation – the head issue raised at the informal meeting of the European Union Ministers of Labour and Social Policy, which is taking place in Brdo, Slovenia on 8-9 July, attended by the Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Labour and Technology Marek Niedużak.

The European Commission forecasts that our GDP will grow by 4.8% this year, driven mainly by investment and measures under the Recovery Plan. A growth of over 5% is expected in 2022.

The Ministry of Economic Development, Labour and Technology has finished developing two draft laws which constitute a part of the Polish New Deal: about the housing vouchers, and mortgage loan repayment guarantees and a house up to 70 sq. m without formalities. 218 investment support decisions were issued under the Polish Investment Zone in the 1st quarter of the current year for a total of PLN 7.9 billion. This will contribute to the creation of 5,941 new jobs – said Grzegorz Piechowiak, deputy head of the Ministry of Economic Development and Labour and the government plenipotentiary for foreign investments

In June, the PMI came in at 59.4 and remains above the 50-point threshold for the twelfth consecutive month, indicating continued growth in the manufacturing sector. New orders, employment and stock creation are the main components with the greatest impact on the result.

Support for the processes integrating the Western Balkans into the European Union, including, among others, efforts to create a common market in the region and the desire to strengthen cooperation in the field of green energy, innovation, R&D at the business and scientific level – these were the main issues raised by Deputy Prime Minister Jarosław Gowin at the Berlin Process meeting of Ministers for Economic Affairs.

Despite the pandemic, in 2020 the Polish Patent Office received the same number of industrial design applications as in 2019, and the data from the European Union Intellectual Property Office shows that continuously since 2019, Poland ranks 4th in terms of the number of industrial design applications, just behind Germany, Italy and France. Out of these countries, only Poland and Germany saw an increase in the number of notifications over the period, with Poland showing the largest increase of 2%. Today, Robert Tomanek, Deputy Minister for Economic Development, Labour and Technology, participated in the “Business Strengthened by Design” conference held by the Polish Patent Office where he held discussions on how aesthetic, utilitarian and functional design can improve the performance of companies, including small enterprises.

A common industrial policy to strengthen the resilience of EU economies to crisis shocks, and to secure their competitiveness was the main topic of discussions held between the economic ministers of the Visegrad V4 Group and France, held today in Krakow. The meeting providing an economic summary of the Polish Presidency of the V4 Group, was attended, alongside Deputy Prime Minister Jarosław Gowin, by Visegrad partners: – Czech Deputy Prime Minister Karel Havliček, Slovak Deputy Prime Minister Richard Sulik, László Palkovics – Hungarian Minister of Innovation and Technology and – Bruno Le Maire – French Minister of Economy, Finance and Reconstruction as a special guest. The meeting concluded with the signing of a declaration on mutual cooperation for the development of the pharmaceutical industry.
