Deputy Prime Minister Radosław Sikorski attends Foreign Affairs Council in New York

The informal meeting of EU foreign ministers (FAC) was held on the margins of the 80th UNGA General Debate in New York on 22 September. The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski.

The ministers discussed the European Union’s further support for Ukraine in the face of Russia’s unabated aggression and spoke about the situation in the Middle East. Deputy Prime Minister Sikorski referred to his earlier address at the UN Security Council session convened in connection with the Russian incursion into Estonian airspace, stressing the need for a strong response to Russia’s provocations.


High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas invited heads of diplomacy of Brazil, India, and Mexico to attend a part of the meeting. Speaking on behalf of Poland and Malta, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus Constantinos Kombos conveyed to the guests a joint appeal to support the EU efforts for a just end of the war in Ukraine and a lasting peace, and to coordinate actions to improve the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and achieve a lasting peace in the Middle East and in Sudan.
