On 2 September, MFA Undersecretary of State and Government Plenipotentiary for the Three Seas Initiative Paweł Jabłoński attended the Bled Strategic Forum, an annual international conference held in Bled, Slovenia, during which he took part in the session “Building connectivity in CEE – the case of the Three Seas Initiative.” Speaking at the panel, the deputy minister pointed out the Initiative’s key importance in bridging the gap in economic development between the eastern and western parts of the European Union. He stressed that achieving social and economic cohesion and an equal quality of life is essential for Europe to be truly united. On questions about the convergence of the Three Seas Initiative’s goal with that of EU integration, the MFA deputy head stressed that the two formats are fully compatible.

The Polish chief of diplomacy paid an official visit to Vilnius to mark the 30th anniversary of re-establishing diplomatic relations between Poland and Lithuania.

Meeting with his counterpart Gabrielius Landsbergis will be the main point on the agenda of Minister Zbigniew Rau’s visit to the capital of Lithuania.

As a gesture of solidarity in the face of vaccine shortages and risks posed by new coronavirus variants, Poland will hand over 400,000 AstraZeneca vaccine doses to Taiwan. This makes Poland Taiwan’s third largest vaccine donor, after the US and Japan.

“We appreciate the solidarity shown by EU institutions and member states over the artificially created migration crisis at the Belarus border,” said chief of Polish diplomacy Zbigniew Rau at an informal Gymnich meeting of EU foreign ministers, which was held in Kranj, Slovenia, on 2 and 3 September.

On 2-3 September 2021, the chief of Polish diplomacy will pay a visit to Slovenia (Kranj), where he will participate in an informal meeting of the EU foreign ministers in the Gymnich formula.

On 1 September 2021 Minister of Foreign Affairs, prof. Zbigniew Rau appointed Łukasz Jasina for the position of the MFA Spokesperson.

“The Republic of South Africa is one of Poland’s main political and economic partners in Africa. We appreciate the good dynamics of our bilateral relations that were established almost exactly 30 years ago and make efforts to further enhance cooperation between our countries. It will be beneficial for both our nations,” said the MFA’s Undersecretary of State Paweł Jabłoński during today’s political consultations with Alvin Botes, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of South Africa.

“I am proud to say that in a situation of unprecedented chaos we have managed to create an effective, flexible evacuation mechanism that included Poland’s highest state authorities, our representative offices abroad, and most of all our rescue team in Kabul,” said the minister during Wednesday’s press conference on actions taken by Polish diplomatic and other services that organised the evacuation operation from Kabul.
