On 26 March 2020, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation H.E. Sergey Andreyev was summoned to the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Speaking with the ambassador, the Director of MFA’s Eastern Department referred to a public statement by Russian senator Aleksey Pushkov who accused Poland of closing its airspace for Russian aircraft carrying medical aid to Italy.

In view of the increasingly frequent reports that Polish authorities are blocking the transit of medical supplies through Poland, we strongly emphasise that such reports are false.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has recently noted cases of individuals fraudulently pretending to be calling from the MFA official number: 022 523-90-00, published on the Ministry’s official website.

EU actions to address the situation in the Syrian province of Idlib and the related migrant crisis, and EU response to the COVID-19 pandemic were at the centre of the EU foreign ministers video conference which took place on 23 March 2020.

On the occasion of the first anniversary of the fall of the so called "caliphate", the Global Coalition to Defeat Daesh/ISIS made a following statement.

Poland considers as illegal the so-called “presidential elections” held on Georgian territory of Abkhazia by separatist authorities in Sokhumi on March 22, 2020, and we do not recognize their results. We strongly condemn all actions undertaken at the occupied territories without the consent of the government in Tbilisi.

On the initiative of Poland, Minister Jacek Czaputowicz held a videoconference with his Belarusian counterpart Vladimir Makei, on 20 March 2020. The video meeting replaced the official visit planned for this date, which was (both sides stressed) only postponed due to the SARS-CoV-2 virus pandemic. The ministers agreed that, as soon as possible, they will meet in Warsaw as originally planned to discuss a number of issues related to Polish-Belarusian bilateral relations.

Foreign Affairs Minister Jacek Czaputowicz appointed Monika Szatyńska-Luft to the position of MFA spokesperson on 18 March.

Held in Warsaw at the request of the Lithuanian side, the meeting focused on Poland’s assistance in enabling Lithuanian citizens to return home due to the epidemiological threat caused by the spread of coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, as well as the situation of Polish citizens coming back to their homeland through the territory of Lithuania.

During a phone conversation with Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in Warsaw Liu Guangyuan, the foreign affairs minister thanked, on behalf of the Polish government, the authorities in Beijing for their pledge to send over constructive assistance to help Polish healthcare facilities combat coronavirus.
