“We should treat the Three Seas as an initiative that can bridge the economic gap between us and more developed western states,” Deputy Minister Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk said at a meeting “Three Seas. Idea or interest?”

Foreign Ministers Jacek Czaputowicz and Linas Linkevičius discussed bilateral relations, cooperation in expanding energy and transport infrastructure, security and Eastern policy.

Eighty years ago, German aggression on Poland started the Second World War. In the early hours of 1 September 1939, troops of the German Reich crossed the Polish-German border. Polish Army put up military resistance and expected the Allies’ reaction. On 3 September 1939, France and the UK declared war on the German Reich but did not take any real military action. Poland’s tragic fate was sealed on 17 September 1939 when the Soviet Union launched the invasion of Poland from the East. The attack of the German Reich and the Soviet Union resulted from the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact signed by the two totalitarian regimes, a secret protocol to which effectively divided Central Europe into the so-called spheres of influence.

Expansion of bilateral cooperation, the European agenda, Eastern policy and transatlantic cooperation were the highlights of Polish-Danish consultations held today in Warsaw.

Minister Jacek Czaputowicz and Simon Coveney, Ireland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade talked about bilateral relations, Brexit, UN cooperation, and key items on the global agenda.

“We are gravely concerned about the situation in the Persian Gulf. In order to ease the tensions, the US and Europe need to cooperate,” Undersecretary of State at the MFA Marcin Przydacz said during an informal debate of the EU foreign ministers (Gymnich) in Finland’s capital.

“I welcome Minister Borrell’s second visit to Poland in the year that marks the centenary of the renewal of Polish-Spanish diplomatic relations and the 80th anniversary of the outbreak of the Second World War,” Minister Jacek Czaputowicz said after his Friday meeting with Spain’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, the European Union and Cooperation Josep Borrell Fontelles.
