The Eastern Partnership as well as the situation in Afghanistan and Venezuela were the main topics of today’s Foreign Affairs Council in Luxembourg, which brought together EU foreign ministers.

“The region of the Middle East and North Africa presents not only numerous challenges but also opportunities and prospects for Polish diplomacy,” emphasized Deputy Minister Maciej Lang, opening the regional conference of heads of Polish missions in the Maghreb countries and the Middle East.

On Monday 8 April 2019, Foreign Minister Jacek Czaputowicz will take part in the Foreign Affairs Council (FAC) meeting.

The agenda of Foreign Minister Jacek Czaputowicz’s visit to Reykjavík centred around the prospects for the development of bilateral cooperation, including means to forge closer economic links and the matters concerning the Polish community living in Iceland.

“The NATO jubilee meeting has demonstrated that after 70 years the Alliance is doing well,” said Minister Jacek Czaputowicz at the meeting of foreign ministers of the North Atlantic Alliance in Washington DC on Thursday.

“The US presence in Europe is instrumental to the deterrence of potential aggressors,” Minister Jacek Czaputowicz told the ministerial panel at a forum held by the Center for European Policy Analysis in Washington to mark the 70th anniversary of signing the North Atlantic Treaty.

“Nuclear issues are again at the top of the current international agenda, appearing daily in the media,” said the chief of Polish diplomacy during a UN Security Council briefing, which ended the second day of his visit to New York.

“The activities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs also include cooperation with Polish Radio for Abroad, whose mission is to shape opinions about Poland beyond its borders,” said Deputy Minister Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk at the signing ceremony of an agreement on cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Polskie Radio S.A, represented by the President of the Management Board Andrzej Rogoyski.

“Our membership of the UN Security Council has three top priorities: firstly, to strengthen international law; secondly, to promote the protection of civilians in armed conflicts; thirdly, to support a peaceful resolution of conflicts,” said the chief of Polish diplomacy in New York at a high-level Security Council briefing devoted to international humanitarian law.

From 1 to 4 April 2019, Minister Jacek Czaputowicz will be visiting the United States. He will take part in UN Security Council briefings and in ceremonies marking NATO’s 70th anniversary.
