Today's event attended by Minister Radosław Sikorski was held at the initiative of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Sweden, which has assumed this year's presidency of the Nordic-Baltic Eight (NB8).

Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski held a phone conversation today with his New Zealand counterpart Winston Peters. The consultations focused on bilateral issues, support for Ukraine in the face of Russia’s aggression, and the security situation in the Indo-Pacific region.

The talks focused on Poland’s cooperation with the Council of Europe in the promotion of human rights, democracy and the rule of law, Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, as well as Poland’s and the Council of Europe’s further support for Belarus.

Today’s bilateral talks, first with the French MFA’s Secretary-General Anne-Marie Descôtes and then with Romania’s Deputy Foreign Minister Daniela Grigore Gitman, provided an opportunity to underline Poland’s close relations with these partners. The officials discussed matters such as common security, support for belligerent Ukraine, and preparations to take over the EU Council presidency by Poland.

On 28 February 2024, a ceremony was held at the MFA headquarters at Szucha Avenue, Warsaw, to confer first diplomatic ranks to diplomatic and consular trainees as well as MFA employees who passed the diplomatic and consular exam. The novice diplomats took the oath before Minister of Foreign Affairs Radosław Sikorski.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemns holding parliamentary elections in Belarus on 25 February 2024 under conditions of extreme disregard for democratic procedures. The voting organised by the authorities in Minsk was yet another attempt to create an alternative reality, act towards aggravating the internal crisis and hold power by all means at the expense of its own society.
