On 27 January 1945, the closed gate of the German Nazi concentration camp Auschwitz-Birkenau opened for the seven thousand prisoners enslaved by the inhuman, totalitarian and criminal regime of Nazi Germany.

On 28 January 2023, Poland will mark the 450th anniversary of adopting the Warsaw Confederation by the Convocation Sejm in 1573.

Secretary of State at the MFA and Government Plenipotentiary for Compensation for Damage Caused by the German Aggression and Occupation in 1939-1945 Arkadiusz Mularczyk put forward a motion with the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe to start work on the issue of the right to just and equal redress and access to court and a fair trial based on the letter of the law for all victims of the German aggression during the Second World War.

Held at the US initiative, the meeting centred on supporting the energy sector in Ukraine.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Zbigniew Rau will travel to the capital of Belgium to take part in another Foreign Affairs Council (FAC) meeting held on Monday, 23 January.

During his visit to Reykjavík on 19-21 January 2023, Deputy Minister Arkadiusz Mularczyk met with Martin Eyjólfsson, Permanent Secretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iceland, Auðunn Atlason, foreign policy adviser of Iceland’s Prime Minister Katrín Jakobsdóttir, and Þórhildur Sunna Ævarsdóttir, a parliamentarian and a member of Icelandic delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.

On 19-20 January, head of Polish diplomacy Zbigniew Rau took part in an annual informal Snow Meeting organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania.

Twenty-three theses defended in 2022 were entered into this year's 34th edition of the Minister of Foreign Affairs' competition for the best master's thesis on Polish foreign policy.
