    The inaugural meeting of the 2nd term Committee on Senior Policy was held on Thursday at the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy with the participation of the Minister of Family, Labour and Social Policy Marlena Maląg, and the Secretary of State in Stanisław Szwed’s Ministry. The meeting saw the appointment of the new members of the Committee.

    The data published on Tuesday by the Central Statistical Office shows that the range of extreme poverty in Poland has decreased to 4.2 percent from 5.4 percent in 2018 - that is the best result since 2006, and a decline by over one fifth. The data shows that our social policy is effective and has a real effect on the quality of life of Polish citizens - says the Minister of Family, Labour and Social Policy Marlena Maląg. What is more important, the decline was noted in all social groups.

The ‘Disabled Person’s Personal Assistant’ programme addresses these needs. It is available to non-governmental organisations. The programme budget is PLN 80 million.

One of the participants was the Deputy Minister of Family, Labour and Social Policy Iwona Michałek. In addition, a letter from Minister Marlena Maląg addressed to members of the new Council was read.

    The Sejm passed an amendment of the act assuming that persons born in 1953 who had been negatively affected by the introduction of new pension calculation rules in 2013 would have an opportunity to recalculate their pensions and recover decreased benefits. These changes will be favourable for around 74,000 persons. In a majority of cases, the average monthly pension will rise by PLN 202. Now the bill will proceed to the Senate.
