Consultation of the Installation Design with a Fire Protection Expert Regarding Compliance with Fire Safety Regulations

According to Article 29(4)(3)(c) of the Construction Law, photovoltaic systems with an installed electrical capacity exceeding 6.5 kW require consultation with a fire protection expert to ensure the design complies with fire safety regulations (hereinafter referred to as “consultation”).

Purpose of the Consultation

The aim of the consultation is to enhance fire safety.

When Consultation Is Required

Consultation is mandatory for photovoltaic installations with an installed electrical capacity greater than 6.5 kW.

Elements of the Consultation

The detailed procedure for consulting the design in terms of fire protection requirements is described in the Regulation of the Minister of Interior and Administration of August 8, 2023, on the consultation of land or site development designs, architectural and construction designs, technical designs, and fire protection device designs for compliance with fire safety requirements.

Procedure

The consultation of the photovoltaic installation design should take place at the design stage, i.e., before installation.

Duration of the Consultation Process

The duration depends on the complexity of the installation and the availability of the fire protection expert.

Competent Authority for the Consultation

The consultation is carried out by a certified fire protection expert.

Validity Period of the Consultation

There is no need to renew the consultation if the installation is carried out in accordance with the approved design.

What Fee Must Be Paid for the Consultation?

The cost of the consultation depends on the individual pricing provided by the expert.
