Onshore wind energy, alongside photovoltaics, is the most widespread technology in Poland for generating electricity from renewable sources. Its operation is based on the use of wind turbines that convert the kinetic energy of wind into mechanical energy in the form of rotor rotation. This energy is transmitted via a shaft and gearbox to a generator, which then converts it into electrical energy.
Wind turbines are usually large-scale structures, often exceeding 100 meters in height. However, it should be noted that small and micro wind turbines also exist and may play an increasingly important role in the power system over time.
