The ceremony began with a speech by Prof. Tadeusz Lesiak, Director of the IFJ PAN, who presented the scientific achievements and activities of the Institute. Then state decorations were presented. The Henryk Niewodniczański Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Polish Academy of Sciences is today one of the largest institutes of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Since 1955, it has been conducting basic and interdisciplinary research at the highest global level in the field of physical sciences.

The President of the PAA emphasized the importance of cooperation between the Institute and the National Atomic Energy Agency, which was reflected, among other things, by granting the Institute a decision on authorization to assess the radiation state of the environment prior to the siting stage, during commissioning as well as operation of the nuclear power plant. The Institute also conducts assessments of individual and environmental dosimetry systems for a nuclear power plant and measurements in its surroundings.
