Mission, Vision and Strategy

Vision:

We are a modern, competent nuclear regulatory authority respected and trusted by the general public, conducting activities that are significant for ensuring nuclear safety and radiological protection.

Mission:

Through regulatory and supervisory activities we aim to ensure that activities involving exposure to ionizing radiation are conducted safely both for workers, the general public, and the environment.  

The PAA fulfills its mission by:

  • Performing state supervision over activities which could cause exposure to ionizing radiation;
  • Performing systematic assessment of the national radiation situation;
  • Undertaking suitable measures in case of radiation emergency;
  • Conducting cooperation in order to fulfill Poland’s obligations regarding nuclear safety and radiological protection under binding treaties, conventions and international agreements,

having for the aforementioned purposes:

  • Suitable national and international legal instruments;
  • Data from radiation monitoring systems;
  • Authorizations to issue licenses, conduct inspections and accountancy;
  • The well-prepared staff of inspectors and other specialists.

Strategic objectives

  • Increasing the level of security of radioactive sources in Poland;
  • Developing competencies for the Polish Nuclear Power Programme;
  • Implementation of the integrated management system.
