Exchange of experience between Polish and Slovak regulatory authorities
09.10.2026
A delegation from the National Atomic Energy Agency (PAA), led by Vice President of the PAA, Paweł Pytlarczyk, held a bilateral meeting with representatives of the Slovak nuclear regulatory authority (ÚJD SR). The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the current activities of both agencies and to exchange experience in the areas of nuclear safety and radiation protection.
One of the key topics of discussion was the exchange of experience regarding the licensing of new nuclear facilities. The Slovak counterpart is currently conducting licensing processes related to the commissioning of Unit 4 of the Mochovce Nuclear Power Plant and the preparation of new nuclear facilities. The PAA, in turn, is evaluating an application for a license to construct a nuclear power plant at the Lubiatowo-Kopalino site.
During the meeting, participants also discussed the development of the national legal framework, the current status of nuclear projects, related activities of regulatory authorities, and international cooperation, including within the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the OECD Nuclear Energy Agency (OECD/NEA), and the Western European Nuclear Regulators Association (WENRA). The participants also discussed opportunities to strengthen further cooperation and information exchange between the PAA and the ÚJD SR. The next meeting with the Slovak nuclear regulatory authority will take place in 2027 in Poland.
