New issue of the "Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection” bulletin now available - check it out
30.04.2026
This year's first issue of the quarterly is largely dedicated to Poland's preparations for the development of nuclear energy and the related regulatory and scientific challenges.
The lead story is an interview with the President of the National Atomic Energy Agency, focusing on the nuclear regulatory authority's readiness to oversee the construction of the country's first nuclear power plants. The publication precedes the announcement that an application for a construction license for the nuclear power plant at the Lubiatowo-Kopalino site was submitted on 31 March.
This issue also presents a comprehensive plan for the development of research in the field of radiation protection over the next decade. The document identifies priority research areas in light of the growing role of nuclear energy, medical applications of radiation, and both civilian and military threats. It is intended to support the coordination of scientific activities and strengthen Poland's position in international research projects.
Other articles cover the results of studies on the radioactivity of construction materials, the evolution of nuclear law regulations in Poland, and an analysis of the psychosocial effects of the Chernobyl disaster, 40th anniversary of which falls this year.
The issue also addresses the problem of radiophobia and examines the response of the public and emergency services to radiation threats, including those related to potential terrorist acts.
