The President of the National Atomic Energy Agency, Łukasz Młynarkiewicz, also participated in the press conference”.

03.03.2022The IAEA Board of Governors in Vienna adopted a Resolution on nuclear safety, security and safeguards in UkraineOn 3 March, the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), during an emergency meeting, called at the request of Poland and Canada, adopted a resolution deploring Russian aggression against Ukraine and calling for the cessation of all actions against nuclear facilities on its territory. During the 2-day Board’s session, Poland was represented by Dr. Łukasz Młynarkiewicz, President of the Polish National Atomic Energy Agency, and Dominika Krois, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Republic of Poland to the United Nations Office in Vienna.

28.02.2022European nuclear regulators have adopted a common position on the safety of nuclear facilities safety in Ukraine due to Russia’s military aggressionOn February 27, at an extraordinary meeting, the European Nuclear Regulators Group (ENSREG) met with representatives of the European Commission, the International Atomic Energy Agency and the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine (SNRIU). Poland was represented by the President and Deputy President of the National Atomic Energy Agency. The ENSREG meeting was devoted to the situation in Ukraine.

27.02.2022Poland and Canada call the emergency meeting of the Board of Governors of the IAEAIn a request submitted on February 26 to the Chairman of the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Poland and Canada, as the Board members, requested that an emergency meeting of the Board be convened in view of the situation in Ukraine and the related implications for nuclear safety and radiological protection.

25.02.2022The State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine on the situation in the Chernobyl Exclusion ZoneThe nuclear waste storage facilities in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone have not been damaged, the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine (SNRIU) informs. SNRIU adds that the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone is occupied by Russian troops, while the elevated radiation levels recorded by the radiation monitoring system in the zone are caused by moving heavy vehicles which lift contaminated dust from the soil into the air.
