On the effective licensing of nuclear power plants
19.05.2026
The National Atomic Energy Agency is currently hosting a workshop on the organization and management of regulatory review and assessment by the regulatory body during the licensing of NPPs.
The workshop, organized by the PAA under the auspices of the International Atomic Energy Agency, is attended by approximately 20 representatives of nuclear regulatory authorities from around the world, from countries that are preparing to implement nuclear energy. Experts from the nuclear regulatory authorities of Finland, Pakistan, and Turkey—countries that have commissioned new nuclear power units in recent years—are sharing their experiences.
The workshop program includes an exchange of experiences regarding the licensing of new nuclear power plants. Participants will learn about the regulatory systems of these countries, as well as the processes and procedures used to organize and manage regulatory reviews and assessments. The workshop will also provide an opportunity to discuss the practices of individual nuclear regulatory authorities in licensing and the challenges they have encountered.
The workshop will run until Friday.
