Regulatory Cooperation Forum in Vienna

A delegation from the National Atomic Energy Agency, headed by President Andrzej Głowacki, is participating in a meeting of the Regulatory Cooperation Forum (RCF), held in Vienna.
The Regulatory Cooperation Forum was established at the initiative of the International Atomic Energy Agency. Its aim is to support nuclear regulatory authorities in countries planning to launch nuclear power programs through countries with more advanced nuclear power programs.
Thanks to the cooperation within the Forum, the Polish nuclear regulatory authority can more quickly strengthen the skills needed to carry out the tasks arising from the Polish Nuclear Power Program. Activities performed under the RCF involve, among others, overseas training internships, study visits, technical workshop,s and expert meetings.
During the discussion, Andrzej Głowacki, representing Poland, presented the Polish nuclear regulatory authority’s evaluation process of the application submitted by Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe for a license to construct Poland’s first nuclear power plant. The President of the PAA also reported on the ongoing pre-licensing dialogue with stakeholders interested in the implementation of small modular reactor projects in Poland.
