The National Atomic Energy Agency is hosting a workshop on the site safety evaluation of new nuclear installations. The week-long workshop is being led by experts from the International Atomic Energy Agency.
Over five days, employees of the PAA and entities involved in planning nuclear energy investments learn about international standards related to the siting of new nuclear facilities. Experts analyze regulatory frameworks, regulations, and safety standards, and examine specific examples. The training covers geological, geotechnical, hydrological, and meteorological issues related to the safety evaluation of new nuclear facilities. The workshops cover both large power plants and small modular reactors (SMRs).
As part of the workshop, participants learn not only theory. They also analyze conditions specific to different geographical areas and their impact on the site selection process. They also examine the potential impact of mining areas and criteria that exclude the site of new nuclear facilities in a given area.
The program includes a series of specialized presentations combined with practical workshop sessions, providing participants with the opportunity to exchange experiences and deepen their knowledge of the practical application of IAEA standards.
