The plenary meeting of the Group, held in Brussels, has provided an ongoing review of the issues that are currently most important for European nuclear regulatory authorities. Conclusions resulting from the work of various ENSREG working groups were also discussed. One of them is headed by Iga Pocztarek-Tofil, director of the Policy and International Cooperation Bureau of the PAA.

Representatives of the European nuclear regulatory bodies heard a report on stress tests in third countries and a report on the ENSREG mission to Ankara, Turkey. They also discussed issues related to nuclear safety in Ukraine and the safety of nuclear facilities during armed conflicts in general.

- Such meetings are primarily aimed at the exchange of information and best practices in the field of nuclear safety and radiation protection between individual nuclear regulators of the European Union states in the context of projects and initiatives planned in the European Union – says Andrzej Głowacki, President of the PAA.

ENSREG is a group of nuclear regulatory authorities from the European Union. A representative of the European Commission also participates in the work of the Group. The group has advisory powers to the European Commission.

The aim of ENSREG is to facilitate cooperation and  information exchange between the Member States of the European Union on issues related to nuclear safety, radiation protection or radioactive waste management. ENSREG also conducts peer reviews of the nuclear safety of nuclear facilities.
