During the meeting, which took place on May 20 and 21 in Nicosia, participants discussed not only issues related to the organization’s current activities but also the progress made by individual working groups.

One of the main topics was the development of artificial intelligence in the context of the activities of radiation protection authorities. The meeting resulted in the adoption of HERCA’s official position on artificial intelligence systems and their interaction with radiation protection in medical applications of ionizing radiation. The possibilities for HERCA’s cooperation with commercial entities providing artificial intelligence-based tools were also debated. Participants also discussed the opportunities and challenges posed by the application of artificial intelligence in the field of radiation protection.

The meeting participants also heard a presentation on HERCA’s collaboration with other organizations representing radiation protection authorities.

HERCA is an association that brings together the heads of radiation protection authorities from various European countries. Its primary objective is to promote cooperation in the field of radiation protection. HERCA also serves as a forum for exchanging information, best practices, and experiences regarding legislation and the implementation of international recommendations on radiation protection.
