Secretary of State - Agnieszka Bartol-Saurel

Born on 10 July 1972 in Warsaw. A graduate of the University of Nancy (France) and the College of Europe in Natolin.

She worked at the College of Europe and the Office of the Committee for European Integration.

In 2002, as the only representative of the countries acceding to the European Union, she became a member of the Secretariat of the European Convention which, under the chairmanship of Valéry Giscard d'Estaing, drew up the Constitutional Treaty. She then joined the team of the Council of the European Union involved in the work on the Lisbon Treaty

Since 2003, she has worked in the Council of the EU, specialising in the areas of cohesion policy and financial services.

Since 2009, she has been responsible for institutional affairs and the Multiannual Financial Framework, and has been responsible for drafting the conclusions of the EU Heads of State and Government.

In 2016, she was appointed Head of the Cabinet of the Secretary General of the Council of the EU and a member of the Council's Advisory Board and the Audit Committee.

In November 2022, the Council of the European Union appointed Agnieszka Bartol as Director-General for Communication and Information at the General Secretariat of the Council of the EU.

Agnieszka Bartol is fluent in French and English. He speaks Italian and Russian. She is married and has two daughters.
