Appointment of the new director of the Government Centre for Security

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has appointed Brigadier General Marek Kubiak as director of the Government Centre for Security. On behalf of the head of government, Minister Zbigniew Hoffmann handed over the act of appointment to the new director.

New director of the Government Centre for Security

Brigadier general Marek Kubiak is a firefighter by profession and a specialist in operational planning and rescue. He is a teacher, an activist of the poviat local government, the Association of Volunteer Fire Brigades of the Republic of Poland, the Association of Fire Engineers and Technicians, the Polish Federation of Engineering Associations FSNT-NOT and the Polish Red Cross.

He is a graduate of the Main School of Fire Service and the Higher Defence Course at the Strategic and Defence Faculty of the National Defence University of Warsaw. He studied law at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. He has also completed a number of courses: chemical rescue, ecological rescue, 3rd and 2nd scuba diving certification levels. He is also a certified fire protection expert.

From 2006 to 2007, he was Wielkopolskie Voivodeship Regional Commander of the State Fire Service and then served as Chief Commander of the State Fire Service until 2008.

From 2015 to 2020, he served as director of the Government Centre for Security. In 2017, he was promoted to the rank of brigadier general by President Andrzej Duda. From 2020 to 2023, he was active in the management of the Government Centre for Security as deputy director. On 20 June 2023, he was appointed as director.

Government Centre for Security

The Government Centre for Security (RCB – Rządowe Centrum Bezpieczeństwa) coordinates crisis management across ministries. It monitors potential threats in the country and ensures the circulation of information within public administration. When a threat occurs, the Government Centre for Security works to minimise the impact on the population. It includes civilian experts, service officers and soldiers of the Polish Army.

In addition, the Government Centre for Security conducts training and education campaigns on hazards and crisis management.
