“Today, Paweł Adamowicz would like all of us here in Gdańsk and throughout Poland to be smiling. This is not easy. We have gathered today in our, also in my beloved city, to remind all of Poland and Europe of this tragic event. The reason for our gathering is a tragic death. There is the brutal assassination of the Mayor of the City of Gdańsk, Paweł Adamowicz. So why should we smile? Paweł would have wanted it. And he would have wanted, and we owe it to all of us without exception, that when we meet every year at the place of his tragic death, we should think, we should talk about the future, not only about what happened,” said the Prime Minister, recalling his friend.

As he stressed, this tragic death gave deep meaning to the conviction that the whole of Poland can and must be a place for people who have rid themselves of contempt and hatred.
