On 9 May 2022, after months of intense deliberation, the Conference on the Future of Europe concluded its work. The CoFE was an unprecedented initiative that involved a year of discussion, debate and collaboration between citizens, NGOs, politicians and other stakeholders. A webcast of the event is available online: (link inside article)
During the ceremony, the Final Report was handed over to the three Presidents of the European Institutions: the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, the President of the French Presidency of the Council of the European Union, Emmanuel Macron, and the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen. The 49 proposals contain recommendations and aspirations of European citizens about their vision for the future of Europe: the Final Report.
The final report presents 326 measures of proposal implementation, which are divided into nine CoFE topic areas:
- Climate change and environment
- Health
- Stronger economy, social justice, employment
- The EU in the world
- Values and rights, rule of law, security
- Digital transformation
- European democracy
- Migration
- Education, culture, youth and sport.
The proposals rely on recommendations made by EU citizens who have met in national and European Citizens' Panels and shared their ideas through the Multilingual Digital Platform.
The EU institutions will now examine how to effectively implement citizens' recommendations.
Throughout the Conference, citizens had a key voice and were encouraged to participate directly in the discussions. In Poland, the CoFE events were promoted through the website and social media, so that the widest possible range of participants representing the most diverse range of opinions had a chance to speak.
