Government Sets Up Task Force to Probe Epstein Scandal
03.02.2026
"We have decided to establish an analytical team and possibly launch an investigation in connection with the scandal in the United States involving pedophilia,” Prime Minister Donald Tusk said ahead of a Cabinet meeting. Poland will cooperate with U.S. authorities and international partners. The aim includes protecting any potential Polish victims. There are also suspicions that Russian services may have co-organized this operation, so the matter is of significant importance to national security. The head of government also announced a visit to Kyiv at the invitation of President Zelenskyy. The Prime Minister also referred to record-breaking frost across the country and appealed to crisis-response services to remain on full readiness.
Government action regarding the disclosed Epstein documents
Prime Minister Donald Tusk reported that, together with Minister of Justice Waldemar Żurek and the Minister–Coordinator for Special Services Tomasz Siemoniak, they decided to establish an analytical team in connection with the pedophilia scandal revealed in the United States involving Jeffrey Epstein.
“This is a completely unprecedented matter. It draws the attention of Polish public opinion due to the so-called Polish threads or traces in the whole case,” the head of government said.
More than 3.5 million documents, video recordings, photographs, and messages have already been disclosed, and nearly twice as much material is still awaiting publication. There have also been reports of individuals who allegedly informed Epstein about groups of Polish women or girls.
“Every decent person should reject any attempt to relativize the issue of pedophilia. This is a crime against children,” Prime Minister Donald Tusk said.
Polish prosecutors and special services will conduct a detailed and thorough analysis. If necessary, they will ask U.S. authorities to provide documents or files that have not yet been disclosed. If Polish children were victimized in this case, the state will take all measures to bring perpetrators to justice and provide redress to those harmed.
Scottish journalist Andrew Marr points to Russian links
A second aspect of the U.S. pedophilia scandal is its impact on national security.
“More and more traces, information, and commentary in global media concern the suspicion that this pedophilia affair was co-organized by Russian special services,” Prime Minister Donald Tusk said.
Referring to remarks by Scottish journalist Andrew Marr, the head of government said that Jeffrey Epstein was also believed to have had unlimited access to enormous financial resources whose source and origin remain unclear. Jeffrey Epstein recorded and filmed influential Western leaders, presidents, prime ministers, and the heads of the world’s largest companies.
“The whole world is talking about this and wondering what risks it poses to individual countries. I don’t have to tell you how serious this possibility is for the security of the Polish state, an increasingly likely possibility, that Russian services co-organized this operation,” Prime Minister Donald Tusk said.
The Prime Minister also did not rule out that Poland would encourage other partners for an investigation into the matter to take on an international character.
Prime Minister Tusk to visit Kyiv
The head of government said that, at the invitation of Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, he will travel to Kyiv for a visit this week.
“It is no coincidence that the Minister of Finance and the Economy, Andrzej Domański, will accompany me. Together with his team, he is preparing the World Conference on Ukraine’s Reconstruction. It will take place in June, in Gdańsk,” Prime Minister Donald Tusk said.
Talks in Kyiv are to concern, among other things, organizational details and a future plan for Ukraine’s reconstruction, which could be implemented after the end of the war or a ceasefire.
Currently, despite Russia’s declarations of a pause in attacks during the frost, the ceasefire has not been upheld. Civilians and civilian infrastructure remain targets of raids, including in Kyiv and Odesa.
“I spoke with our Ukrainian partners. I was deeply moved by what they said when they invited me to Kyiv, saying that the presence of a leader of another country always somewhat restrains the Russians. ‘Perhaps thanks to your visit, at least for a moment we will be able to catch our breath from these types of attacks,’” the head of government said.
Poland, as Ukraine’s closest ally and neighbour, shows its solidarity and support at a time when global attention is increasingly turning away from the ongoing war.
Government monitors difficult weather situation
The head of government also referred to the difficult weather situation. For several days, record-low temperatures have been recorded in Poland.
“I will ask ministers responsible for crisis situations for detailed reports. Regardless of weather forecasts, we must be wherever state assistance is essential,” Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced.
The effects of the frost are already being felt in many regions of the country. Yesterday, among other incidents, there was a failure at a combined heat and power plant in Gdańsk, and across Poland some schools remain closed.
