Construction of the Lębork Inpatient Hospice in Pogorzelice
The initiative, by decision of the Prime Minister, received funding of PLN 800,000 last year, representing 28 per cent of the value of the project. The goal of the investment is to build and open a new facility - an inpatient hospice - and make it possible to provide inpatient palliative and hospice care to approximately 130,000 people in the Lębork district and neighbouring municipalities.
Currently, such a facility is not available at all in the region. The nearest hospices are located approximately 50-80 km away from the Lębork district.
Palliative and hospice care for approximately 200-250 patients per year
The planned hospice will be a 10-bed capacity facility with the potential to add more hospice buildings on a modular basis and increase the number of beds in the future as the facility develops. The capacity will allow interdisciplinary palliative and hospice care to be provided annually to approximately 200-250 end-stage cancer patients and their families.
Patients will be able to access the facility based on a referral from their GP or their oncologist after completion of causal treatment. The patients’ stay at the hospice will be free of charge.
This investment is evidence of maturity and social empathy
The construction of the Lębork Inpatient Hospice is the largest social initiative in the region. It was initiated by the Lębork Inpatient Hospice Foundation, whose originator, founder and funder is Agata Kozyr - President of the Foundation's Management Board.
