Government to finance 51 ring roads throughout Poland

22.12.2021

We are working on connecting roads to ensure an appropriate communication architecture throughout Poland. To that end, we created more than 400 km of new roads across the country in 2021 alone. By no means is this the end of our development efforts – Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has awarded PLN 4.5 billion in subsidies for the construction of 51 new ring roads as part of the Government Road Construction Fund (GRCF). The new road infrastructure will supplement the current regional roads to reduce traffic in many localities and improve the safety of their residents. Moreover, the ring roads will make it possible to reroute traffic away from congested city centres. The ring road construction project was announced during the opening of the No. 933 regional road in the Silesian Voivodeship.

Poland to spend over PLN 4.5 billion on 51 ring roads

As part of the Government Road Construction Fund (GRCF), funding totalling PLN 4.5 billion will be provided for 51 ring road construction projects. In 2022 alone, this funding will amount to PLN 200 million. The maximum subsidy level for each ring road project is as high as 80%.

Investment projects under programme to build 100 ring roads already underway

On 13 April 2021, the Council of Ministers adopted a resolution on establishing a programme to build 100 ring roads in the 2020-2030 period. As part of it, a total of 820 km of new ring roads will be constructed throughout Poland. The government plans to earmark about PLN 28 billion for this purpose. The ring roads are already under construction, with 14 projects comprising 109.6 km of roadways currently underway.

Road safety is among our government’s top priorities. New routes and legal changes provide improved safety for pedestrians and other road users, protecting them against accidents and road hogs alike.

Further, new road infrastructure projects and government subsidies are bound to attract new investors as good road networks and ring roads make regions more competitive.

See the list below to check if your region has received funding under the Programme.
