01.08.2023
The history of our homeland is marked by the struggle for the freedom and independence of Poland and the Polish people. As a nation that has never surrendered, we have repeatedly put up steadfast resistance to those who wanted to enslave us. On 1 August 1944, the Warsaw Uprising broke out. The uprising of the people of Warsaw against the German occupiers lasted 63 days - tens of thousands of Poles suffered the highest price in the fight for freedom. It was the greatest act of resistance in Nazi-occupied Europe. On the 79th anniversary of the Uprising, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki paid tribute to the heroism and memory of those who died at that time. The head of the government laid flowers at memorial sites and took part in solemn celebrations. The Prime Minister also met with the Insurgents, who continue to bear witness to history and patriotism for future generations.
W for Wolność (Freedom) - Warsaw insurgents are an authority for all of us
On the 79th anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising, we refer to all those people who bore witness with their lives. Goodness, justice, love, truth, freedom – those were the most important values to the heroes of the insurgent struggle. This was the message that accompanied the celebrations attended by the head of the government held at the Warsaw Uprising Museum. The motto of the 79th anniversary of the Uprising is "Love always exists" - an expression of the fact that the fight of the insurgents was the time of love for freedom, our homeland and the Polish nation, but also love for other people and their friends.
- We refer to all the scouts from those times, the commanders, officers. We are asking to come to the Memorial Appeal all those who at that time - in civilian clothes and in military and scout uniforms - fought for free Poland; somewhere in the back of our minds, there is this basic thought. Their great desire was for our nation to be one, to be united, for Poland to be great, strong and united in the fight for the highest ideals - stressed Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.
The Warsaw Uprising is an inspiration for future generations to build free Poland
Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said that the uprising of the inhabitants of Warsaw started 79 years ago, but it goes into eternity and we go along with it. We are walking together with those Insurgents and the values that guided them. It is thanks to the Insurgents, inter alia, that we can live today in free, democratic and independent Poland.
- Today, together with their desires, with their testimony, which they pass on to us, to the next generation, we are building a better future, we are building a better tomorrow, believing that each subsequent generation will be able to build a stronger and more united Poland - will be able to ground, create and promote national unity - stressed Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.
