Crisis on the Oder River

The government's primary goal is to minimize the potential negative effects of pollution of the Oder River. In parallel, we are working to identify the causes and sources of potential contamination as quickly as possible. Water samples are regularly collected for testing. At the same time, fish tests are conducted. 

An inter-ministerial crisis team, appointed by the head of government, is in place at the Ministry of the Interior and Administration to coordinate the response to the situation on the Oder River. 

Situation in Ukraine and energy security

The meeting of the Government Crisis Management Team also addressed the topic of war in Ukraine. Team members examined Russia's current activities. 

The war in the territory of our neighbor to the east has implications for other countries as well. The increase in energy and energy carrier prices is due precisely to Russia's brutal aggression against Ukraine. The hostilities launched by Russia have negatively affected the amount and unpredictability of gas and other commodity prices. 

Following the introduction of the coal allowance, the government is proposing further measures to help Poles cover some of the costs associated with price increases in fuel and energy markets - including heating costs. The idea is to limit increases in the price of heat and the cost of heating hot water for households and public utilities by introducing an average price for heat generation with compensation. The Council of Ministers has adopted assumptions for a draft law in this regard. 

Fighting the pandemic

The Government Crisis Management Team also discussed the epidemic situation, due to the growing number of coronavirus infections. The situation in Poland is constantly being monitored. Members analyzed potential scenarios related to COVID-19 that could take place in the fall.
