Minister Michał Dworczyk on importance of smooth traffic between Poland and Ukraine
16.08.2022
We are going to continue our activities to support Ukraine. We have succeeded in fundamentally increasing the capacity of the Korczowa-Krakowiec border crossing - especially for trucks. Enabling the crossing of the western border is extremely important for Ukraine. It also has an important economic dimension for Poland. Minister Michał Dworczyk stressed that we do not stop with these activities. Another border crossing - Malhowice–Niżankowice - will open as early as 2023.
Increasing the capacity of border crossings
Within a few weeks, we were able to increase the capacity of the Korczowa-Krakowiec border crossing. These measures are primarily beneficial to Ukraine. This will undoubtedly improve Poland's trade opportunities. In the current state of martial law, our support and cooperation are particularly important. For this reason, we are focusing on enabling more efficient crossing of the western border.
“When Ukraine is at war this kind of cooperation - i.e. enabling the crossing of the western border - is extremely important for Ukraine. This also has an important economic dimension for us, for Poland - the possibility of trade, the possibility of exchanging goods is insanely important, and increasing the capacity of border crossings supports these processes,” Minister Michał Dworczyk stressed.
Improving traffic between Poland and Ukraine
We are going to continue our activities. We have decided to open another Malhowice–Niżankowice border crossing early. Thanks to decisions by, among others, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and the minister of infrastructure, this will happen as early as 2023, and not in 2025 as originally planned. This will increase further opportunities for freight and passenger exchange between Poland and Ukraine. Moreover, we are looking for more solutions to improve traffic between Poland and Ukraine.
“We are aware that there is still a lot of work to be done because the lines of trucks on the Ukrainian side are large, but today we will have a meeting chaired by Minister Adamczyk, where we will discuss solutions that will help further improve traffic between Poland and Ukraine,” the minister stated.
