Prime Minister Donald Tusk participated in the ceremony, reminding attendees of the immense significance of Westerplatte as a symbol of resistance, courage, and sacrifice. The Prime Minister also pointed out that Poland has drawn lessons from those events to always ensure its safety, freedom, and independence.

31.08.2024 Gdańsk44 years ago in Gdańsk, the August Agreements were signed. Thanks to these agreements, the first independent trade union "Solidarity" was formed, which contributed to the fall of communism in Europe. To commemorate this event, a special meeting with members of the Council of Ministers took place at the Gdańsk Town Hall. Prime Minister Donald Tusk reminded those gathered that each minister must always remember the legacy of August 1980 and more often listen to and meet with Polish women and men, explaining to them the reasons for their actions and decisions.

The head of the government described Lech Bądkowski as a master of patriotism, without whom there would be no "Solidarity" and no independent Poland.

Prime Minister Donald Tusk, together with the Minister of Health Izabela Leszczyna and the Minister of Justice Adam Bodnar, presented guidelines for prosecutors and hospitals. In this way, the government wants to ensure that the state more effectively stands on the side of women. Among other things, they clearly indicate that abortion due to a woman's mental health is permissible and that the opinion of one doctor is sufficient in this case.

The event has been widely considered to be one of the most important battles in the history of the world. To commemorate the victory, 15 August was named the Polish Army Day. To mark the occasion, Prime Minister Donald Tusk participated in an official military parade along the Wisłostrada in Warsaw. As he stated, thanks to our joint efforts, we are building one of the most modern defence forces in the world.

It also adopted a resolution on the Rare Disease Strategy for 2024-2025. The Council of Ministers was also briefed on the work of the Investigative Committee for Russian and Belarusian Influences.
