This meeting chaired by the Minister of European Affairs Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk, with the participation of Anna Lührmann - Minister for Europe and Climate of the Federal Republic of Germany, Laurence Boone - Secretary of State for Europe of the French Republic and Olha Stefanishyna - Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine for Integration with the EU and NATO was an opportunity for fruitful talks on leading European topics, with particular emphasis on the European Union's enlargement policy. The accession aspirations of Ukraine, the countries of the Western Balkans, Moldova and Georgia are of strategic importance for strengthening European integration and stabilizing the situation in the current geopolitical conditions in Europe.
The ministers reached a number of important conclusions aimed at advancing the enlargement process and giving it a framework that will enable it. The measurable result of the meeting of ministers is the Weimar letter to the European Commission, indicating key issues that may significantly contribute to accelerating the enlargement of the Union. In a letter to Olivér Várhelyi, the EU Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement, the ministers of Poland, Germany and France emphasized the need to develop effective methods of admitting new Member States and rules for their assessment, strengthening the support for candidates from EU institutions and Member States, closer economic cooperation, integration in various areas, including wider participation in EU programs (such as Horizon Europe, Erasmus+). The letter highlights the expectation of the Weimar Triangle countries to return to the dynamism of the European Union's enlargement policy.
