Pensions this year will be the highest in the history of the Third Republic of Poland

27.02.2023

Higher pensions, 13th and 14th pensions and lowering the retirement age are all solutions we have introduced to change the lives of senior citizens for the better. At the same time, we have implemented the Leki 75+ (Medicines 75+), Aktywni+ (Active+) and Senior+ programmes. Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki visited the Senior+ senior citizens' club in Gryfów Śląski. Direct meetings with seniors are an opportunity to listen to their needs.

Delivering on promises and responding to people’s needs

In 2017, we have lowered the retirement age: it is now 60 for women and 65 for men. We have fulfilled the promise we made to the voters. We have met the expectations of Polish society - as many as 84% of Poles supported the return to the previous retirement age.

“For us, in the implementation of our policies, the key issue is credibility,” stressed Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.

Retirement is a right, not an obligation. The restoration of the retirement age is primarily intended to allow everyone to decide for themselves. If someone decides to continue working - they are entitled to tax relief.

Higher pension

Today, Polish seniors enjoy higher pension benefits and 13th and 14th pensions.

  • In 2015, the minimum pension was PLN 880 gross (PLN 757 net).
  • We forecast that from March 2023, the minimum pension will be PLN 1588 gross (PLN 1445 net).
  • Compared to 2016, this is an increase of 90% for the net amount.

Our senior policy is having a real effect - seniors are getting more money.

“We are raising pensions and the valorisation of pensions to the maximum level, which will be the highest this year in the history of the Third Republic. There has never been such a total increase in pensions, where the minimum pension and every pension must increase by at least PLN 250,” pointed out the head of government.

Social policy must be comprehensive and expanded

Higher pension benefits are just one pillar of our senior policy. At the same time, we are running and expanding programmes such as Senior+, Aktywni+ and Leki 75+.

We know that our investments translate into a better everyday life for our seniors - better access to medication, social activation or the opportunity for further professional and personal development.
